New International Newsletter from DBI

DBI – The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology is involved in many Danish and international activities within fire safety and security, as well as related projects and Development & Research.

In this issue, you can e.g. read about solar cells fire risks, a project concerning battery fires in electric cars on ferries, and more other relevant news.

DBI is part of new cooperation on defence technology development

Eight Danish universities, together with DBI and four other GTS institutes, have formed NFC (National Defence Technology Centre), which will strengthen cooperation with industry and defence. The aim is to contribute to Denmark’s defence and security.

DBI can now test 4 fire dampers simultaneously

Most test laboratories can test two or three fire dampers at a time. But with new testing equipment, DBI can now conduct fire tests on four dampers simultaneously. This makes the process both faster and cheaper for manufacturers.

DBI’s large multi-furnace can perform advanced fire resistance testing according to the hydrocarbon fire curve for offshore, maritime and industrial applications.

11 megawatts. This is the power output of DBI’s large multi-furnace. In addition, it can fire test specimens measuring 5 x 3 metres. This offers some unique opportunities and is difficult to find anywhere other than at DBI – The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology.

DBI opens new Fire Detection Test Lab

Europe lacks facilities for testing fire detection systems. DBI is now changing that with a new state-of-the-art laboratory and a new accredited testing area.
