DBI is one of Europe’s leading fire testing institutes, with decades of experience across construction, maritime and energy. Our 3,000-square-metre fire laboratory near Copenhagen houses advanced furnaces and equipment for a wide range of fire tests, and our test reports and services are recognised worldwide.


Our fire testing engineers work alongside fire safety consultants and researchers — all under one roof. This allows us to support you from the early development stages of your product or project, help you navigate documentation requirements, and connect you with additional specialist expertise when needed.

Small-scale fire tests can provide early insight into how materials and systems behave before committing to full-scale testing. By identifying risks sooner, optimising design choices and reducing costly rework, you can move more efficiently through development and prepare for full-scale testing with greater certainty.

Fire detection test lab

DBI’s fire detection test lab is ISO 17025 accredited and provides testing of fire detection systems in accordance with selected EN 54 standards.

Battery fire testing

We have both the test facilities and the expertise to carry out fire tests of batteries under safe and controlled conditions. Our specially engineered mobile battery testing unit (MOBAT) enables repeated test cycles with significant cost savings.

Trains & railway

Accredited fire testing for rolling stock and railway components. DBI helps manufacturers and operators document fire performance and meet regulatory requirements — with reliable results and efficient test programmes.

Certification

Our subsidiary, DBI Certification, provides independent, accredited certification of construction products and maritime equipment under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and Marine Equipment Directive (MED).

Our 3,000 square meter headquarters near Copenhagen houses a modern fire laboratory with various furnaces for almost all types of fire tests.

This makes it possible for us to conduct almost all types of fire tests, from small-scale to full-scale, with items as high as 4.48 meters.
