2. Processing of Your Personal Data
2.1 Personal Data and Purpose
DBI - The Danish Institute of Fire and Security processes personal data only for specific and legitimate purposes. The type and amount of personal data will vary depending on the purpose. Please note that if we do not receive the desired information, there are certain services we cannot provide, as our delivery of, for example, education depends on receiving the necessary and sufficient information from you.
The DBI - The Danish Institute of Fire and Security does not use your personal data for actual profiling or automated decisions.
Below are the purposes for which we collect and process personal data through our website:
MARKETING AND NEWSLETTERS
If you subscribe to our English-language newsletter and consent to receive marketing from DBI, we process your name and email address, as well as any interests or preferences you choose to provide. We use this information to send you news, articles and information about our services, courses and events by email. Where covered by the consent you give, we may also use relevant information for digital advertising on Google and social media. Our legal basis for processing your personal data for these consent-based marketing purposes is Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us at dbimarketing@dbigroup.dk.
MARKETING IN CONNECTION WITH EVENTS
For some events, you can choose whether to consent to receiving information and marketing material from DBI and/or a named co-organiser. For other events, consent to marketing is a condition of the registration offered. The information for each event explains which type of registration applies.
Consent is obtained through a separate, affirmative action. Before you consent, we inform you which organisations may contact you, through which channels and about which topics. If a co-organiser is to send you marketing, DBI may share the necessary contact details and a record of your consent with that co-organiser for this purpose. You may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
EVENTS, NETWORK GROUPS, CLUBS, ETC.
When you are registered for or participate in an event, network group, club or similar activity, we process the information necessary to administer and facilitate your participation. This may include your name, place of employment, job title, address, phone number and email address, as well as other information relevant to the specific event. We receive the information from you or from the person, employer or organisation that registers you.
If you enter into the agreement to participate with DBI yourself, our legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. If your employer or someone else registers you, our legal basis may, following an assessment of the circumstances, be our legitimate interest in administering your participation and holding the event, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
EVENTS WITH CO-ORGANISERS
Some events are held together with one or more co-organisers. In connection with these events, DBI and the co-organisers may exchange the participant information necessary to administer registrations and hold the event. This may include your name, company, job title, email address and information about your registration and attendance. For each event, we inform you who the co-organisers are and which information we share with them.
The information is used, among other things, to administer participants, provide practical information and hold the event.
COURSES AND EDUCATION
We process your personal data to administer your registration, communicate with you about the course and deliver your course or training programme. Depending on the programme, this may include your name, place of employment, job title, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, previous education and information about your training programme. With your consent, we also process photographs of you.
We receive this information from you or from the person, employer or organisation that registers you. If you are personally a party to the agreement to participate, we process the necessary information under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. If your employer or someone else is a party to the agreement and registers you, we generally process your ordinary participant information under Article 6(1)(f). Our legitimate interest is to administer your participation and deliver the agreed course or training programme.
For certain training programmes, we also process your Danish civil registration number (CPR number) and health information when necessary to meet legal requirements relating to your participation or the issue of a certificate or similar document.
